Liverpool owners, the Fenway Group, has told manager Jurgen Klopp, to downgrade the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
This is because of a hectic schedule, which will include the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Club Cup this season.
The Fenway Group are desperate for the Reds to win their first League title in 30 years, as well as retain the Champions League trophy.
Liverpool have won the FA Cup seven times and the League Cup in its different guises a record eight times.
Klopp might not add to that haul, as he will now concentrate on giving fringe members of his squad valuable playing time, while resting his big names.
The Anfield club finished second in the league last season, one point behind Manchester City.
