Ellen DeGeneres Quitting Talk Show Over Neck Injury?

Is Ellen DeGeneres being forced to quit her talk show over a painful neck injury? That’s the false claim one of the tabloids is pushing. Gossip Cop has learned it’s untrue.

Around two weeks ago, DeGeneres revealed on her talk show that she had hurt her neck but had no idea how it happened. The following day, the TV personality gave an update to her audience and explained that a chiropractor told her she had sprained it. The injury doesn’t appear to be anything serious and DeGeneres has since been hosting her show without any issues. Unfortunately, the National Enquirer is now dramatically and inaccurately sensationalizing the situation.

“Health Problems Pushing Ellen To Quit!” reads a headline in the latest issue of the magazine. An alleged insider is quoted as saying, “Ellen’s already filming only four days a week and has been telling people she can’t handle the grind anymore.” The magazine goes on to describe the TV host’s recent neck injury as “mysterious and paralyzing.” In reality, she simply sprained her neck. There’s nothing serious about her condition, which has already improved.

In fact, DeGeneres said on her show two weeks ago that she was feeling better. She hasn’t had any trouble doing her job in the time since. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who confirms that the magazine’s article is absurd. DeGeneres isn’t resigning from television over a sprained neck. For lack of a better term, the tabloid is making a mountain out of a molehill.

When the Enquirer isn’t busy making up stories about the talk show host’s career, it often targets her marriage to Portia de Rossi. Back in March, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming DeGeneres and de Rossi’s marriage was “crumbling” and they were living “separate lives.” The happy spouses, who celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary in August, are going strong.

Last year, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for publishing a cover story claiming DeGeneres had “dumped” de Rossi and they were headed for a $400 million divorce. Shortly before that, the tabloid alleged DeGeneres and de Rossi were having a “marriage crisis” that resulted in the talk show host ditching her wedding ring. It’s fairly clear the outlet has zero insight into DeGeneres’ career, her personal life or her health. DeGeneres will continue hosting her talk show through at least 2022, which is when her current contract expires. A sprained neck isn’t getting in the way of that.
