Did Queen Elizabeth Just Quietly Take Control of Prince Harry’s Decision Making With This One Move?

Is Queen Elizabeth concerned about Prince Harry’s decision making? The queen’s decision to hire a director of travel has some royal experts believing that this move may be in response to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle coming under fire for traveling on private jets over the summer.

Prince Harry and Markle were called hypocrites for their travel choices
Prince Harry and Markle’s travel choices over the summer were met with a lot of criticism as the couple generally preach about being environmentally conscious.

They took private jets four times in 11 days and when they were criticized, celebrity pal Elton John weighed in, defending them on social media.

He noted at the time that he provided his private plane for “much-needed protection” and paid to carbon offset their travel to his home in France.

John explained, in part: “To maintain a high level of much-needed protection, we provided them with a private jet flight. To support Prince Harry’s commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint.”

The singer added: “I highly respect and applaud both Harry and Meghan’s commitment to charity and I’m calling on the press to cease these relentless and untrue assassinations on their character that are spuriously crafted on an almost daily basis.”

Prince Harry explained that the choices for their travel were made in response to security concerns, sharing at the launch of an eco-tourism project called Travalyst: ”I came here by commercial. I spend 99 percent of my life traveling the world by commercial. Occasionally there needs to be an opportunity based on a unique circumstance to ensure that my family are safe — it’s genuinely as simple as that.”

Queen Elizabeth is hiring someone to make travel arrangements

The queen is in search of a director of travel, advertising the job opening in a move to ensure that any travel plans are “efficient” and “cost effective.”

The Director of Royal Travel job description notes that the role includes organizing “appropriate travel services for the official duties of Members of the Royal Family and their Households, including “air travel” and “Royal Train trips.” The position pays a salary of £85,000 annually.

The advertisement for the position explains the duties involved, noting: “You will also liaise with the relevant authorities to provide advice and recommendations on travel, taking into account security, safety and environmental considerations.”

Further, the job description explains: “Leading a small team in the Royal Travel office, and The Queen’s Helicopter Flight, based at Odiham, you will provide logistic support to the Royal Household including support of Court moves, State Visits and the provision of the staff travel service in support of all Households.

“You will be required to ensure planning and procedures are highly effective, researching and negotiating value for money contracts and options for travel, while understanding and recommending best industry practice in risk and safety management,” the job listing explains.

Why the position is so important

A source shared with Mail Online how important the position is to make informed and cost-effective decisions, as recent royal accounts revealed the family spent £4.6millon on travel last year.

The source explained: “This is a very senior position, looking after a very important part of household operations. It’s an essential part of the role that candidates are able to plan the right travel options and negotiate value for money contracts.”
