Ben Affleck’s pals believe Jennifer Garner is going to take him back now that he’s sober? That’s the premise in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop has learned it simply isn’t accurate.
In August, Affleck celebrated one year of sobriety after undergoing treatment for alcohol addiction last year. The movie star is in a great place in his life and continues to successfully co-parent his three kids with his ex-wife. Life & Style, however, wasn’t content with merely publishing a story about the actor’s road to recovery. Instead, the unreliable outlet wants readers to believe he might also be rekindling a romance with Garner.
The phony narrative is teased on the upper lefthand of the magazine’s cover with a headline that reads, “Jen & Ben: A Second Chance At Love!” In the accompanying article, an anonymous source talks about some of the progress Affleck has made over the past year, and adds, “He’s doing so well, some pals even wonder if Jen will now give him a second chance.” The only truthful aspect of this story is that the actor is healthy and committed to his sobriety. All talk of a reconciliation with Garner is untrue.
Gossip Cop checked in with Affleck’s spokesperson, who notes that both the actor and his ex-wife are “very happy with the situation they are in currently.” Simply put, the ex-spouses are on good terms but they’re not giving their marriage a “second chance.” In reality, Garner has been dating Cali Group CEO John Miller for more than a year.
The tabloid’s bogus story seems to have been written to capitalize on Affleck recently reaching a milestone in his recovery. The movie star celebrated one year of being sober in August, and that’s where this story should begin and end. Unfortunately, Life & Style felt the need to create a phony scenario involving his ex-wife.
It’s worth noting, the unreliable outlet frequently pretends to know how the actor’s “pals” feel about his personal life. Back in April, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Affleck’s friends wanted him to date either Charlize Theron or Halle Berry. The actor’s inner circle isn’t choosing famous women for him to date.
Shortly before that, the publication wrongly reported that Affleck’s pals were concerned about him supposedly gambling again. None of the actor’s loose-lipped “friends” have ever been identified by the magazine. However, a rep qualified to speak on Affleck’s behalf frequently assures Gossip Cop that the tabloid makes up stories about him.
